| Why is my computer starting up slowly? (BIOS running slow) |

Starting the computer is taking too long and BIOS is running very slowYour computer is taking a long time to POST (Power On Self Test), and when you enter BIOS (Basic Input Output System), the computer is responding to keystrokes in a slow and lagging manner. However once Windows starts, your computer runs at it's usual speed, you may have a problem with a USB hub. This problem usually manifests as a slower than normal POST while booting your PC. On a Compaq Presario which experienced this issue, each line of the POST took longer than normal to appear. On entering BIOS, we found that the computer responded very slowly to keystrokes and re-drawing the screen. In fact we could literally see it redrawing individual menu entries as the cursor was moved over them. When we booted to the Microsoft Memory Diagnostic Tool, we found that it was responding at the same slow speed as the BIOS. However once Windows itself started, the computer resumed it's usual fast operation
